Is this print for sale? I have a special friend that just completed a 4 month sabbatical and the dandelion became symbolic of his journey. His birthday is the end of Aug and thought this would be a perfect gift.
Thank you very much for your interest. Martzart is right though, this flower isn't a dandelion, but there are plenty of beautiful dandelion artworks on deviantart. If you really like this photograph, however, I will enable it as a print
That is not a dandelion, it is a Queen Anne's Lace, also known as a wild carrot. It has white flowers, grows about 3-4 feet high. Does not have any sort of fluffy puffball airborne seeds. It dries into more of a cage like structure with the seeds inside looking kind of like prickly caraway seeds
The root is edible younger ones more so.. older roots tend to be woody All parts of the plant can be used in foods, teas soups etc.. if you do not suffer the sensitivity mentioned below.
*** Caution though ... Some people have a severe reaction to the leaves and sap.. can cause them to break out into sores and blisters that are uv sensitive.
*** Further Caution : There is a plant "Water Hemlock" that closely resembles Queen Anne's Lace that is poisonous .. an easy to spot difference (shown in your picture ) is... The ring of leave like things growing where the flower meets the stem (kind of look like little "fleur de lis" ) are not present in a water hemlock. Another difference is, the root of the Queen Anne's Lace smells like carrots.
