Alright, let's do this! :w00t:

1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
I'll be 4 DA years old this month

2. What does your username mean?

Well, I decided to be all mature and boring about it a while back, so now it's just my name

3. Describe yourself in three words.

Ambitious lazy chameleon

4. Are you left or right handed?

Ambidextrous, actually. And yes, I do use it as a party trick :la:
which means I could totally lose an arm and still manage to brush my teeth woo

5. What was your first deviation?

This lovely Greek sunset, which is, strangely, still among my most viewed artworks:

6. What is your favourite type of art to create?

The kind that makes me lose track of time, sleep and food. Which is to say, any type of art I feel like doing at the moment.

7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

I don't think I'd like instant mastery, since a big part of what I enjoy about art is seeing your journey and progress along the way. That said, I wouldn't mind speeding up my progress in digital painting and portrait photography.

8. What was your first favourite?

This amazing infrared shot of a cherry tree:

9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

I find myself really drawn to:
:bulletgreen: beautifully edited, atmospheric nature/travel photography
:bulletgreen: majestic, engrossing fantasy landscapes/matte paintings
:bulletgreen: emotive, beautifully drawn character portraits from my favourite shows/books/movies

and overall: intriguing compositions, vivid colour contrasts and unique perspectives

10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

I have so many amazing artists in my watchlist that I can't really choose a single one. And yes, I'm aware how PC that sounds, but each artist has a unique perspective that I appreciate for entirely different reasons.

11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

The photojournalists, the travelers and the artists who didn't quit, no matter what. They have the best stories.

12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

Each and every person who has commented on my art, whether critically or not, has shaped me in one way or another. I gained so much confidence as an artist simply from seeing people enjoy and pay attention to what I'm trying to do.

13. What are your preferred tools to create art?

My camera, my Wacom tablet and my brain.

14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

It's not really a place, more like a 'zone': a state of mind in which I feel inspired to create, to see, to feel. Being in nature is also a great incentive, as is traveling to new places :D

15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

As many other artists, I think receiving a DD was my most uplifting and happy memory on DA (especially when it came during a time when I was feeling particularly dejected).

Well, this went from silly to introspective fast  Even though I'm not as active as I'd like to be, I'll keep improving and evolving in my journey, and I hope DA does the same.

Now let's go do stuff! :dummy: :typerhappy:

Happy 14th birthday, dA!

In just a few days, I'll be celebrating my own milestone - 3 years on dA! :boogie:
So much has happened since I entered this awesome community: I made new friends and saw some of the most wonderful and exquisite artworks on this site.

Sunset Ocean Wave by Vitaly-Sokol
One of my most favourite artworks ever is Vitaly-Sokol's 'Sunset Ocean Wave - a gorgeous, vibrant shot which embodies the essence of the sea

Because of this constant exposure to great art and tutorials, I've grown so much as an artist. The people on dA have inspired me to push my creative limits and to always be passionately curious.
The support you find here is truly remarkable - and I've learned that people will believe in you and your abilities even when you don't.

My first DD, received a week ago, was a lovely surprise and it came during a time when I was feeling pretty low as an artist. Now I'm determined to keep shooting and improving my skills :w00t:

Here are a few summer favourites that I've stumbled upon over the last few days:

Crin by MDDahl
This beautiful lily is such a fresh, summery shot, made even more colourful by that pretty backlight

Pirjo by TriinErg
I love the movement of her locks and the simplicity of the composition - it gives off a very carefree, wind-in-your-hair vibe

Dreaming Wide Awake by LuizaLazar
I've been following LuizaLazar for a while, and she has some of the prettiest, most colourful shots of nature I've seen. This one reminds me of warm summer sunsets and picnics :D

Santorini by takmaj
Moving to traditional art, I just had to share this gorgeous painting made by the talented takmaj Santorini has never looked more stunning

And lastly, I want to feature the amazing works of digital artist/black-magic-practitioner tatasz. If you're not familiar with fractal art, check out her gallery for some jaw-dropping artworks :faint:

Alien Seas by tatasz     Goldie by tatasz

Loonie by tatasz   Moongarden by tatasz
I could stare and wonder at these beautiful fractal designs for ages. The use of light and colour brings out intricate shapes and textures.

What's your dA story? Are you new on the site or are you also celebrating your dA birthday? :D

Hello, dA! Long time no see
I've been checking in once in a while, but I haven't been very active on the site in the past year, and I apologize to my watchers and my groups. One reason for my hiatus is lack of time (I have 2 jobs now). I've also tried to wean myself off dA and other sites in order to focus more on creating art instead of just consuming it.

This year has been really great for photography. On a personal quest to shoot everything possible, I've had the chance to photograph portraits, weddings, travel, various events and even two big rock concerts, which was a-m-a-z-i-n-g :happybounce:

I've learned so much about composition, lighting and editing that I can't wait to test my skills in off-camera lighting starting this November. Two months ago, having decided to go FX, I went and bought a Nikon D600 with my first ever paycheck. Needless to say, it has renewed my passion for photography.

After my hiatus, I now know that I want to become a little more engaged on dA, and post pictures regularly, like I used to. The awesome community is what brought me here in the first place :D

Hi, everyone!

How's your summer? Right now I'm 'enjoying' a delightful 41 degrees C weather (but that's Romania in august for you :stare: )

I just came back from my holiday in Montenegro and Croatia, which was as awesome as it was short; and naturally, I took hundreds of pictures.
Before that, though, I had the pleasure of attending and shooting my friends' wedding, which also meant about 1200 pictures.
And even before that, I had about a gazillion pictures to edit from my summer travels in the UK.

So that puts me at ~3000 pictures to edit in a few weeks :faint::faint::faint:

In much better news, I got a new lens!
The lovely Nikon 50mm 1.4 :squee: (which is a joy to shoot with btw). And if that wasn't enough, my friends gave me an external flash as a gift! So now I'm reading up and watching every tutorial on flash photography I can find (Strobist.com ftw!) I can't wait to experiment with it, and to shoot more at 1.4 (it's incredibly tricky)

In dA-related news, I'm now an admin of 4 wonderful groups, which has been a great experience! :w00t:
:iconcompelling-photos::iconme-and-my-camera::iconi-heart-colors::iconphotos-unappreciated:

Now on to edit some pictures, and I'll do my best to upload some by next week!
Have a great weekend! :woohoo:
